The Plunge is Truly the Coolest Event in NJ!The Polar Bear Plunge has grown to become the largest single day fundraising effort for Special Olympics New Jersey. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $100 to take a mid-winter dip into the frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Many Plungers raise more than the minimum and earn Plunge gifts at various fundraising levels. All proceeds collected by Plungers benefit Special Olympics athletes and help to foster the Special Olympics New Jersey mission. Who Does This Crazy Thing - Don’t Laugh, Maybe YouAnyone with a little courage, a warm heart and a desire to support Special Olympics athletes are welcome! Minors (under 18) are required to have parent/guardian signature of consent to participate. We suggest that those with health concerns check with their doctors before Plunging. In past years, Plungers have included 6-year-olds to 70-somethings, mayors, police chiefs, officers, corporate teams, families, high school clubs, fraternities, and everyone in between. For the more hesitant, there is plenty of room for watching and cheering! The Scoop on the PlungeParticipation Fee: Each Plunger must raise at least $100. This goal can easily be accomplished by asking family, friends, co-workers, etc. for a donation, large or small, on your behalf. Corporate Matching Gifts are welcome. Plunge individually or pull together a team of 10 or more. Each team member is required to register early (see Plunge Kit for details), and each must raise a minimum of $100.
