PLANE PULL FAQs

Who Can Participate?
Anyone with a desire to support Special Olympics athletes is welcome! Minors are required to have parental consent to participate. We suggest that those with health concerns check with their doctors before participating.

How Much Does It Cost To Pull?
The minimum donation needed per team is $1,000.

Why do you ask for $100 by the registration deadline if the minimum donation is $1,000?
The $100 is a deposit towards the $1,000 minimum donation required by a certain date in order to participate. This allows team members time to continue to raise funds from family members and friends in order to raise the $1,000. Please download and refer to the IMPORTANT DEADLINES information available from the sidebar of this webpage.

Can we submit $1,000 instead of the $100 deposit?
Yes. By submitting the $1,000 minimum your team will be officially registered to Pull and will owe nothing on the day of the Pull.

Can we raise more than the $1,000 minimum?
Absolutely! We welcome all teams to raise as much as possible. The more your team raises the more commemorative merchandise each member receives.

What is the latest date our team can register to participate?
Please download and refer to the IMPORTANT DEADLINES information available from the sidebar of this webpage.

Can we bring additional donations to the Plane Pull?
Yes. We welcome teams to continue fundraising. All donations will be accepted the day of the event and will be added to your final tally. ONLY TOTAL DOLLARS RAISED AS OF PLANE PULL DAY WILL COUNT towards Incentive Level Items. Donations will be accepted up until a month after the Pull.

Can someone join a team on the day of the Plane Pull?
Yes, ask your Team Captain if additional Pullers are needed! You will need to sign a Waiver of Liability.

Can we bring family and friends to watch?
Yes. Spectators may attend free of charge but they must go through the security check.

TEAMS ARRIVE AT AIRPORT 90 to their assigned Pull Time to allow time for parking, get shuttle bus to site, security check, and team check-in. Team Captains will be notified prior to the Pull of their assigned Pull Time. YOU MUST call us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you have been assigned a Pull Time but your team is unable to participate.

UPON ARRIVAL AT NEWARK AIRPORT Follow signs for PARKING AREA P4, Daily Parking, just beyond Terminal C. There will be an airport shuttle bus going back and forth between P4 and the Airport Family Day/Plane Pull event throughout the day. Please go to the Port Authority tent as soon as you arrive at the Event Site to get your parking ticket validated. Look for directional signs to the PLANE PULL area.

BEFORE ENTRY TO THE EVENT AREA, EVERYONE MUST GO THROUGH A STANDARD TSA SECURITY CHECK.

ONLY TEAM CAPTAINS CHECK-IN THEIR TEAM, A final Team Roster will be required and waivers may need to be signed and completed. Additional donations and team’s total raised will be tallied. You’ll get T-Shirts and other information or items for the event to distribute to team members.

PARKING IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE PLANE PULL SITE AND ENTRY INTO THIS AREA IS RESTRICTED. EVERYONE parks in a designated area of PARKING AREA P4.
