PLANE PULL FAQs
Who Can Participate? Anyone with a desire to support Special Olympics athletes
is welcome! Minors are required to have parental consent to participate. We suggest that
those with health concerns check with their doctors before participating.
How Much Does It Cost To Pull? The minimum donation needed per team is $1,000.
Why do you ask for $100 by the registration deadline if the minimum donation is $1,000?
To hold your place and guarantee that your team name will get on the T-shirt. The $100 is a
deposit, which will ensure that once your team raises the minimum donation of $1,000, each team
member will receive a customized Plane Pull T-shirt with team name or sponsor on back. By asking
teams to submit a deposit of $100 by the registration deadline, we allow team members to continue
to raise funds from family members and friends in order to cover the minimum deposit. You will
then need to raise an additional $900 or more in order to participate.
Can we submit $1,000 instead of the $100 deposit? Yes. By submitting the $1,000 minimum
your team will be officially registered to Pull and will owe nothing on the day of the Pull.
Can we raise more than the $1,000 minimum? Absolutely! We welcome all teams to raise
as much as possible. The more your team raises the more commemorative merchandise each member receives.
Can we still participate if we miss the Registration Deadline? Yes. If you miss the
pre-registration deadline, keep fundraising and submit your $100 deposit as soon as possible. Your
team will then need to raise an additional $900 or more in order to participate. Team registrations
received after the deadline will NOT receive customized Plane Pull T-shirts with team/sponsor name
on back.
Can we register on the day of the Plane Pull? No.
Can we bring additional donations to the Plane Pull? Yes. We welcome teams to continue
fundraising up to the day of the event. We will accept any donations and add them to your final tally.
Can we bring family and friends to watch? Yes. Spectators may attend free of charge but
they must go through the security check.
TEAM INFORMATION
TEAMS ARRIVE AT AIRPORT 90 minutes prior to their assigned Pull Time to allow
time for parking, shuttle to site, security check, and team check-in. Team Captains will
be notified prior to the Pull of their assigned Pull Time. Please call us at (609)330-4079 the day of the Pull if you are registered, but your team is unable
to participate.
ONLY TEAM CAPTAINS CHECK-IN THEIR TEAM, get all team member waivers signed, hand-in
additional donations, distribute T-Shirts and information.
UPON ARRIVAL AT NEWARK AIRPORT
Follow signs for PARKING AREA P4, Daily Parking. A bus will be available to transport you to the location, where the Airport Family Day festivities will take place. Once you exit from the bus, look for signs for the PLANE PULL.
**PARKING IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE PLANE PULL SITE**
Everyone parks in the official designated area, Lot P4, just beyond the Terminal C Building. There is no parking at the event site, and entry into this area is restricted. Your parking ticket can be validated by a Port Authority official at the Plane Pull Event Site so be sure to look for their tent.
There will be a shuttle running from P4 Daily Parking Garage to the Airport Family Day and Pull festivities. Before entry to the event area, everyone must go through a security check.
Once through the security check, look for signs to the Plane Pull check-in/registration area.
