SNOW BOWL FAQs
Who Can Participate? Any flag football team with players that are 18 years of age or older is eligible to participate. Each member of the team must sign a waiver before they will be allowed to play. We suggest that those with health concerns check with their doctors before participating.
How much does it cost? The minimum donation per team is $1,500 to participate in the Snow Bowl at the Punt Level.
Why do you ask for $100 by the registration deadline if the minimum donation is $1,500?
We will only register 48 teams. By sending in your $100, you secure a place in one of the slots. By asking teams to submit a deposit of $100 by the registration deadline, it allows team members to continue to raise funds from family members and friends in order to cover the minimum registration fee- the Punt Level of $1,500.
Can we submit the minimum registration fee of $1,500 instead of the $100 deposit? Yes. By submitting the $1,500 your team will be officially registered at the Punt Level to play and will owe nothing on the day of the tournament. If the money is received by January 15, 2010 your team players will receive a “dated” incentive item.
Can we raise more than the $1,500 minimum? Absolutely! There are two other registration levels; the Pass level which is $2,500 and the Touchdown level which is $5,000. Each of these levels provides additional incentive items for the team members.
Can we still participate if we miss the Registration Deadline of 1/15/10? Yes, but only if a team slot is available in the Division you want to play in. If all the slots are full, your name will be placed on a wait list and you will be called if we have a cancellation. The minimum registration amount (Punt Level-$1500) total will be due on 1/29/10. We will not take your registration payment unless we have an opening.
Can we register on the day of the tournament? No.
Can we bring additional donations to the tournament? Yes. We welcome teams to continue fundraising up to the day of the tournament. We will accept any additional donations and add them to your final tally.
Can we bring family and friends to watch? Yes. Spectators may attend free of charge, however, due to security and insurance reasons spectators must remain in the stands and are not permitted on the field.
Can we wear our team uniform? Teams are encouraged to wear identifiable team uniforms appropriate for the sport and weather conditions. Check the weather the day of the tournament and bring extra jerseys, socks, shoes, gloves etc. Changing rooms are provided for the players' use.
What about parking? We do not anticipate any problem with parking. There is a parking lot located next to the fields; signs will be posted once you enter the campus to direct you to the fields.
Will food be provided? A continental breakfast and lunch will be available for the players, officials and event staff in the dining facility next to the Ferguson Recreation Center. The Student Center (about a 10 minute walk from the Ferguson Recreation Center) has a cafeteria that will be open for any spectators who may want to purchase food.
What about lodging? Arrangements have been made for a special room rate at the Ramada East Hanover, 130 Rt. 10 West, East Hanover, NJ, 07936. You must call (973)386-5622 by January 29, 2010 to qualify for this rate and mention the NY Football Giants Snow Bowl. When do the games start? The first games begin at 8:00am. Games will be played on two fields simultaneously with each game lasting 30 minutes in length. The Captain will be sent a schedule prior to the date of the tournament.
What is the format for the games? The format is 6-on-6 with light blocking.
Is this a contact or no contact flag football tournament? There may be some contact with blocking; blocking must be open handed and thrust outward from the chest with open hands and not "loaded up" from the side. There is no blocking below the waist or above the shoulders. There are no chop-blocks and you cannot leave your feet.
How will the Champion of a Division be determined? The winners of the Semi-Final Rounds for each Division will play each other for the Championship Game of their Division.
