For today’s #ThrowbackThursday, we introduce longtime athlete Kristen Clark.
Ever since she was nine years old, Kristen has been competing with Special Olympics New Jersey for almost as long as the organization has existed. Now at 41, she competes in swimming during the summer. She will never forget the time she won a gold medal for swimming at the 2014 USA Games held in New Jersey.
“I have many medals and plaques from Special Olympics,” she said. “I love being a part of Special Olympics for many years…now it’s turning 50 years old, wow!”
As someone who has competed in a lot of sports over the years and been a public speaker for SONJ, Kristen never stops going, even in her personal life. The Somerset County native fills up her free time with many activities. She works at the Somerset Hills YMCA as a gymnastics instructor and floor supervisor. She likes to read books, color, and do word searches. Kristen is also a member of the Rosary Altar Society at her church.
Fun fact: Kristen loves the movie Frozen!
