 Statement of Compliance

Camp Schedules
Due to the nature of our scheduling, late arrivals are not acceptable.  No meals will be served.  Please allow time for your athlete to eat prior to the start of camp.  Transportation must be provided to and from the Sports Complex in a timely manner.  Early drop-off and late pick-up are not options for any camp session.

Camp Attendance
We expect athletes to attend every day unless they are ill or have a doctor's appointment.  Camp activities are planned based upon athletes attending every day.  Fridays will be the most festive day of Day Camp with competitions.  If your athlete is attending an Extended School Year program which only operates Monday through Thursday, we still expect your athlete to attend Day Camp on Friday.

Athletes will not be allowed to register for a Twilight Camp and Day Camp during the same week.

Camp Uniform
On the first day of camp, athletes will receive two high-quality Camp Shriver t-shirts at no charge.  Athletes must wear their camp shirt, athletic shorts and sneakers every day.  Additional shirts will be available for purchase.  Athletes not wearing their camp shirt may be asked to sit out of activities for the day.  Long pants or dresses are NOT appropriate clothing for Camp Shriver.

Camp Supervision
Camp Shriver provides highly qualified staffers and volunteers to manage all athletes.  If it is determined that an athlete requires additional supervision, a one-to-one aide must be provided by the parent/guardian.  It will be the parent/guardian's responsibility to provide a qualified individual who is familiar with the athlete to assist for the duration of the athlete's attendance.  If you are unable to provide a one-to-one aide, Special Olympics New Jersey reserves the right to disqualify your athlete from the program.

Camp Behavior
Any athlete who exhibits aggressive or inappropriate behaviors which places staff, volunteers or other athletes at risk may be disqualified from participation at the discretion of the Special Olympics New Jersey staff.

Camp Donation
In honor of the 50th anniversary of Special Olympics we have required a $50 deposit check to hold your athlete's spot to participate in Camp Shriver.  At the conclusion of your athlete's last day of camp, this check can either be returned or donated to Special Olympics New Jersey.

Camp Registration
ALL athletes must have a valid medical on file in order to participate in camp. Only new medicals have to be submitted to Special Olympics New Jersey.  Each camp session has a limited number of spots available.  We will not hold spots for athletes that do not have a valid medical on file.

Medical forms can be emailed to camp@sonj.org or faxed to 609-482-2284.

By signing below, you understand and agree to the terms above.  Special Olympics New Jersey reserves the right to make schedule changes to the sports offered.
