At its annual Night of Champions, Special Olympics New Jersey honors and celebrates outstanding individuals and groups.

In the year leading up to the big event, award candidates are identified and nominated by their peers. These nominations are reviewed by a committee, and finally the award recipients are revealed. Awards categories include 13 outstanding county athletes, several volunteers, spirit awards, Special Olympics New Jersey Hall of Fame, Law Enforcement Torch Run Hall of Fame, and a Lifetime Achievement award. 

The Outstanding Athlete award recognizes Special Olympics New Jersey athletes who have shown determination and dedication to training and an increased proficiency in any sport at any competition level. The award was presented by Hunterdon and Warren Counties Coordinator, Kathy Creveling.

Philip Sosidko has been competing for the past 10 years in Swimming. He has an awesome attitude and determination which has contributed to his success in the pool. Phillip’s personality is contagious as he spreads joy and his knowledge to his teammates. 

He is known for his commitment, willingness to help others, and his teaching abilities.”
