Snowboarding is a sport that involves descending a slope that is covered with snow on a snowboard attached to a rider’s feet using a special boot set onto mounted binding.
Special Olympics snowboarding is a winter sport where athletes train and compete from January through February with the hopes of competing at the state Winter Games.

Athletes may compete in two events within the same level.
- Athletes must wear winter competition appropriate attire. Athletes will not be permitted to compete in jeans.
- Helmets are required.
