Between competitions and fundraising events, there are hundreds of opportunities for individuals, families, groups and organizations to give their time every year.
After competing at the area level, many athletes qualify to advance to sectional and state events. These are larger events which bring athletes together from the entire state to compete. Special Olympics New Jersey runs state events seasonally with four culminating events per season: Fall Games, Winter Games, Spring Games and Summer Games. In addition to our four major state events, Special Olympics New Jersey runs leagues and sectional tournaments where volunteers are needed.
Volunteering at fundraising events is a great way to contribute to our movement. From golf tournaments to runs at the Jersey shore, there is a wide variety of opportunities to become a part of the Special Olympics New Jersey volunteer team.

There are a variety of ways to volunteer in your local community. Special Olympics New Jersey has 13 county areas that run events throughout the year. There are more than 50 area competitions annually which qualify athletes to advance to sectional and state competitions. Volunteers can serve as event volunteers for area competitions and/or fundraisers. To learn more on how to get involved in your community, please contact your local area director.
