A little drizzle couldn’t stop 96 golfers from competing in the 35th Dental Dental Golf Classic at Morris County Golf Club, and they were rewarded by fun contests, hospitality stations, and the opportunity to meet SONJ athlete Dane Klewsaat on Hole 1. Several foursomes took advantage of his drive and continued play from where his ball landed.

Many golfers utilized their gift, Wingman wireless speakers, right away, and played their favorite tunes in the carts. After tournament play concluded, staunch supporter of SONJ, Steve Adubato, Emmy award-winning anchor, author, executive coach and host of Lessons in Leadership podcast served as MC.

SONJ athlete Amber Concepcion spoke at the reception and shared how SONJ has impacted her life: “I love being part of Special Olympics because it gives me a chance to challenge myself and make new friends along the way during the competition. Whether it’s running, bowling, or even skiing, I’ve enjoyed every moment. The happiness I feel when competing with the support from everyone around me is incredible.

The $185,000 raised at the Delta Dental Golf Classic allow SONJ to offer 22 Olympic-style individual and team sports that provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities, completely free of charge.

SONJ President & CEO Heather Andersen presented a framed picture, drawn by Amber Concepcion, to Paul Di Maio, President and CEO of Delta Dental of New Jersey, as a thank you gift to the sponsors.
