With perfect weather and a breathtaking sunrise over the NYC skyline, 476 participants, along with dedicated staff and LETR volunteers, enjoyed a scenic ferry ride from Liberty State Park to Liberty Island for the 2025 Statue of Liberty 5K.
After a few short speeches and the Pledge of Allegiance by SONJ athlete Charlotte, the participants were off! The 5K runners each completed seven loops around the Statue of Liberty, while the 3K walkers were done after four loops. Combined, all participants ran almost 3,000 laps around the Statue of Liberty.
This unique event raises funds for Special Olympics New Jersey, who provide sport competition and health services to thousands of athletes around the state! A total of over $71,000 was raised, and we thank the top fundraisers below:
