Cross-country skiing is a winter sport in which participants propel themselves across snow-covered terrain using skis and poles. Cross-country ski athlete train and compete from December through February with the hopes of competing at the state Winter Games.

Athletes may compete in two events and one relay. In order for an athlete to be considered for novice level competition, the athlete must be able to change direction, fall and get up unassisted, and attempt to stop on his/her own.
Athletes must wear winter competition appropriate attire. Athletes will not be permitted to compete in jeans.
