The Unified 5K was a bit different this year… we went VIRTUAL! Like many other race events in 2020, Special Olympics New Jersey converted our community based Unified 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, presented by Inspira Health, to a virtual race, in conjunction with Rowan University’s Virtual Family Weekend. The event ran from September 20 to October 4.

We had some great teams sign up and fundraise. Shout out to our top fundraising team, South Jersey Runners for SONJ, who raised over $700! They organized a safe, socially distanced run with the club to complete their 5K together! The group loved supporting athlete, Ian, and cheering him on as he finished his 5K!

We had 29 Special Olympics athletes participate in the race. Jeni walked her 5K with her furry friend, Bella. Eric ran with his dad, Dan, and enjoyed the scenery along the way!
