The 8th Annual Garden State Unified Golf Classic (GSUGC) to benefit Special Olympics New Jersey (SONJ) was once again held at the prestigious Tavistock Country Club in Haddonfield, NJ on Monday, September 23, 2024.
The event featured 112 golfers including 1 Unified golf team, with the support of over 50 companies. This has become a premier golf event in South Jersey. A choice of Adidas golf shoes or RayBan sunglasses were distributed and golfers were able to use Ryan Corkery’s (SONJ athlete) drive location as their first shot at the Meet the Athlete Hole. The Air Cannon shot and the Roll the Dice contest were huge hits!
Rob Curley, Chairman of the event served as the emcee for the evening’s program. Heather Andersen, President & CEO of SONJ, thanked the event committee, introduced the SONJ athletes prior to the 1:00 pm Shotgun start.
The event featured a raffle which offered gift baskets, electronics, home goods and more, as well as an online auction that featured sports tickets, golf outings, gift certificates, jewelry and much more.
Following the buffet dinner reception, awards were given out and the group had the privilege to hear from SONJ athlete, Aadita Arulalan, who spoke about how SONJ has impacted her life.
Proceeds from GSUGC will enable Special Olympics New Jersey to provide thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to train and compete in sport, At Special Olympics, a more inclusive world begins with sports, but the impact extends far beyond the playing field.
