Greg Wilson met fellow athlete Erica Schaeffer at the 1987 Hunterdon County Special Olympics Games. He didn’t know it would be the start of a friendship that would last forever.
Greg, an SONJ athlete, has been competing since he was 7 years old.
He still remembers how he used to not look at the ball when throwing it at the 1987 Summer Games. Then Erica came along and helped him learn how to throw a ball properly. After that, the once nervous and shy Greg soon became an impressive athlete who competed in track, golf, basketball, and snowshoeing.
31 years later, Greg is thankful for Erica’s friendship all these years. At this year’s Summer Games June 8-10, he be competing in track, and he knows Erica will be there cheering him on!
