Part 1 of the Special Olympics New Jersey (SONJ) 2023 Winter Games took place in Galloway Township January 6-8. It was the first time the Winter Games were held in three years, having been canceled in 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Part 2 of the winter sports season continued in northern New Jersey February 6-7 for the annual 2023 Winter Games. Athletes gathered at Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon and competed in Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding while Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing took place nearby at the National Winter Activity Center.

The official kick-off to Winter Games up north took place Monday evening at Mountain Creek which included an epic torch lighting ceremony, fireworks, and of course – a dance party!
