The Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 was held from June 16-25, 2023. Over 7,000 Special Olympics athletes and Unified Partners from 180 nations competed in 24 summer sports.

Many renowned sports facilities in Berlin, Germany provided state-of-the-art competition venues, including Berlin Olympic Stadium, which held the Opening Ceremony.

Special Olympics New Jersey (SONJ) sent 3 athletes, 1 Unified partner, and 1 coach to Berlin to represent Special Olympics USA. The group came home with 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and more!  Several others represented SONJ in Berlin as volunteers for the final leg, games management, and photography.

Farrah Spencer:

  • Gold – Balance Beam
  • Silver – Uneven Bars
  • 4th Place – Vaulting
  • 5th Place – All Around
  • 6th Place – Floor Exercise

Brian Beirne:

  • Gold – Overall
  • Gold – Bench Press
  • Silver – Deadlift
  • 4th Place – Squat

Halli Williams and Mary Pucciarelli:

  • Gold – Unified Golf
